Since 2001, the Instituto Ecologico Aqualung supported the important goal of cleaning the beaches of Niterói (a city across the bay from Rio de Janeiro), that happens yearly in conjinction with the Annual International Coastal Clean-Up Day. Last year´s (2004) International Coastal Clean-Up, the Instituto participated actively on the first and successful initiative of cleaning up world-famous Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. A strong conviction in the power of environmental education, the Instituto Ecologico Aqualung launched a long-term program on cleaning up the beaches.

Everyone is invited to participate actively as a volunteer.
